Answers to the most common questions about Nanak Ghee’s bilona desi cow ghee, A2 desi cow ghee and desi buffalo ghee.

Is Nanak Ghee pure?

Yes. Our ghee is made only from milk using the traditional bilona method. We add no vanaspati, oil, colour or preservatives.

What is bilona ghee?

Bilona ghee is made by setting milk into curd, hand-churning the curd into makkhan, and slow-cooking the makkhan into ghee. Ghee made directly from cream or malai is not bilona ghee.

What is the difference between cow ghee and buffalo ghee?

Cow ghee is golden yellow, lighter and more aromatic, ideal for daily cooking, kids and pooja. Buffalo ghee is white, thicker and richer, and is the favourite for parathas, pinni, panjiri, halwa and mithai.

What is A2 desi cow ghee?

A2 ghee is made from the milk of desi cow breeds whose milk contains the A2 type of beta-casein protein. Our A2 desi cow ghee is also made by the bilona method.

What is the price of 1kg desi ghee?

Bilona desi cow ghee is ₹1,550/kg, desi buffalo ghee is ₹1,200/kg and A2 desi cow ghee is ₹2,200/kg. Bigger packs (2kg and 5kg) cost less per kg. See all prices on our Shop page.

Which pack sizes are available?

All our ghee comes in 500g, 1kg, 2kg and 5kg packs. The 500g pack is a good way to try us first, and the 5kg pack gives the best price per kg.

How do I check if ghee is pure at home?

Warm a spoonful gently in a pan. Pure ghee melts quickly into a clear golden liquid with a rich aroma. At room temperature, pure bilona ghee sets with a danedar (grainy) texture.

How long does ghee last and how should I store it?

About 9–12 months. Keep the lid tight, store it away from water and direct sunlight, and always use a dry spoon. No fridge needed.

Which ghee is best for pooja and diya?

Many families prefer pure cow ghee for pooja, havan and diya by tradition. Follow what your family or temple prefers.

How do I order?

Order on this website, or call or WhatsApp us on 97819 83883.

How should I store desi ghee?

Keep ghee in a clean, dry, airtight jar away from direct sunlight and moisture, and always use a dry spoon. Pure ghee does not need to be refrigerated.

Why is your ghee grainy (danedar)?

A grainy, danedar texture is natural for traditionally made bilona ghee. It forms as the slow-cooked ghee cools down and is a sign of real desi ghee.

Why is cow ghee yellow and buffalo ghee white?

Cow milk carries natural beta-carotene into its fat, which makes cow ghee golden yellow. Buffaloes convert beta-carotene into vitamin A, so buffalo ghee is naturally white.

Which ghee is best for sweets and parathas?

Buffalo ghee is the favourite for pinni, panjiri, halwa, laddoo and parathas because it is thick and rich. Cow ghee is preferred for daily cooking and pooja.

Can I use your cow ghee for pooja and diya?

Yes. Our bilona desi cow ghee is pure milk fat with nothing added, so it is ideal for pooja, havan and lighting diyas.

How much ghee should I eat in a day?

Most families use one to two teaspoons a day as part of a balanced diet. If you have a medical condition, please ask your doctor what is right for you.
